Hi there,

This is Michiel from Hashgraph, bringing you the December developer highlights and a special recap of 2025! We’ve curated the 10 best technical resources from 2025, covering everything that made 2025 a great year for builders on Hedera.

Also, we're happy to announce Hedera DevDay is coming to Denver on February 17, 2026, alongside ETHDenver. This will be a hands-on, community-first event for developers and builders who want to learn, connect, and create. Expect technical sessions, collaborative workshops, and plenty of time to experiment and exchange ideas with the people building across the Hedera and EVM ecosystems.

Thank you for being part of this amazing year. Your contributions, engagement, and innovation have made 2025 truly special, and we look forward to achieving even greater milestones together in 2026.

🎄A big thanks from the entire Hedera team! 🎄

#10: Releasing the Hedera Developer Playground & Hedera Contract Builder

Two browser-based tools that remove setup friction and help developers move faster on Hedera. The Developer Playground lets you write and run Java, JavaScript, and Rust code directly in the browser against testnet and previewnet. The Contract Builder is a full smart-contract IDE for editing, compiling, deploying, and testing Solidity contracts on Hedera. Both tools are ideal for learning, rapid prototyping, and experimenting with Hedera services. Perfect for beginners getting started and experienced devs validating ideas quickly.

#9: How to Mint & Burn an ERC-721 Token Using Hardhat & Ethers

This tutorial series walks through building an ERC-721 smart contract on Hedera using Hardhat and Ethers. You’ll learn how to deploy contracts via the JSON-RPC provider and interact with them on testnet. Learn how to use Hardhat configured for the Hedera testnet to deploy an ERC-721 token, mint a new NFT, and burn it again using Hardhat scripts.

#8: Bringing Real-World Data to Hedera with Chainlink Data Feeds

Chainlink Data Feeds make it easy to bring reliable, real-world data on-chain when building on Hedera. Developers can access price feeds and other off-chain data directly from smart contracts, without building custom oracles.

#7: Airdrop Tokens with Hedera Smart Contracts

Follow this tutorial to learn how to use the Native Hedera Token Airdrop inside of a Solidity Smart Contract. In this tutorial, we build a Smart Contract that extends the Hedera System Smart Contract to create and cancel a frictionless airdrop.

#6: Local, Self-Hosted, or Third-Party? Selecting a JSON RPC Relay for Your Project

For Hedera projects, you can start with the Local Node for fast, offline development. As you scale, a self-hosted relay offers full control for production needs. For a hassle-free option, third-party services provide managed access with minimal setup. Explore a detailed breakdown of all three options.

#5: Hashgraph Hustlers: Using x402 Payment Protocol for Cross-chain Swaps

Join Jake Hall and special guest Lincoln Murr (Coinbase) for a live-build session where they create a cross-chain dApp: pay in BASE USDC using x402 and receive an airdrop on Hedera. Watch this hands-on demo of seamless Web3 interoperability.

#4: Building AI Agents on Hedera

Throughout the year, the Hedera team has worked hard on releasing the Hedera AI Agent Kit. It allows developers to build LLM-powered applications that interact with the Hedera network. You can create conversational agents that can understand user requests in natural language and execute Hedera transactions, or build backend systems that leverage AI for on-chain operations.

                          2. Deep Dive into the Hedera Agent Kit: Plugins, Tools, and Practical Workflows
In this blog, we walk through the Agent Kit architecture, highlight its plugin system, and showcase real-world examples where agents interact with Hedera services.

#3: Hashgraph Hustlers: Building a Yield Farming AI Agent for Bonzo Finance

This episode shows how to build an AI “yield farming assistant” for Bonzo Finance using Hedera Agent Kit v3 and its new plugin architecture. They wire up a Bonzo plugin that pulls live market data (including supported assets, supply/borrow rates) and allows users to ask questions in natural language. Next, the agent concept expands to checking a wallet’s token balances and matching them to Bonzo opportunities. They also discuss “looping” / leveraged yield strategies, with a clear warning about liquidation risk and monitoring health factor.

#2: Unlocking New Possibilities with Hedera Batch Transactions

In October, Hedera released the implementation of HIP-551: Batch Transactions. It

enables developers to execute multiple operations as a single atomic transaction with ACID (Atomicity, Consistency, Isolation, and Durability) properties. Complex multi-step operations either complete entirely or fail completely, eliminating partial execution scenarios that create inconsistent states or security vulnerabilities.

By enabling atomic execution across different Hedera services without requiring smart contracts, batch transactions significantly simplify development workflows while enhancing both security and user experience. Learn more in the blog post or explore the tutorial.

#1: Wallet Connectivity on Hedera: When to Use Reown AppKit and Hedera Wallet Connect

Learn how to choose between Reown AppKit and Hedera Wallet Connect for wallet integration. Reown offers an EVM-friendly, multi-chain setup, while Hedera Wallet Connect unlocks native features like HTS minting, HCS messaging, and Ed25519 keys. Use Reown for EVM-style dApp, or combine both to support native and EVM workflows in a single integration.

Bonus: Build on Hedera with ZERO Coding Experience

Join Ashe Oro and Jake Hall for a special episode of Hashgraph Hustlers, where we’ll explore how to build on Hedera with zero coding experience. We’re doing a deep dive into the new Hedera n8n Plugin and showing how anyone can build blockchain-powered workflows without writing code, create AI agents that integrate with Hedera services, and automate processes while experimenting with DeFi and Web3 use cases. Expect live demos, step-by-step guidance, and hands-on experimentation as we show just how accessible building on Hedera has become.
