Hedera Joins LF Decentralized Trust and Contributes Codebase

We’re excited to announce that Hedera has become a founding member of the LF Decentralized Trust, contributing its entire source code, including the hashgraph consensus algorithm, as part of a new project named "Hiero." This move underscores Hedera’s unwavering commitment to transparency and sets the stage for broader adoption of decentralized ledger technology.

Hiero was introduced at the Linux Foundation’s Open Source Summit in Vienna during a keynote address by Dr. Leemon Baird, Co-Founder of Hedera, and Co-Founder & Chief Scientist at Hashgraph. Hedera also convened a panel with members from our ecosystem and LF Decentralized Trust to discuss the role of open-source software in today’s world and the future.

Hedera Asset Tokenization Studio Launch

On September 17, the Hedera ecosystem launched Hedera Asset Tokenization Studio, a cutting-edge open-source toolkit designed for the seamless configuration, issuance, and management of tokenized bonds and equities.

Unlike other standards that rely on off-chain handling for key asset details, Asset Tokenization Studio ensures the entire lifecycle of assets is managed on-chain, with compliance-ready features like bond coupons, stock dividends, and jurisdiction-specific regulations.

Built for financial institutions, enterprises, and developers, the all-in-one toolkit includes a user-friendly WebUI and an open-source SDK, empowering users to easily tokenize assets on the Hedera network. This marks a significant milestone in the tokenization of real-world assets (RWAs), bringing enhanced transparency, security, and compliance to the forefront.

Hello Future Hackathon

The Hello Future Hackathon, which ran from July 22 to August 20, wrapped up after an exciting month of innovation. Hackers from around the world built projects on Hedera across tracks including AI, DeFi, and RWA Tokenization. With a total prize pool of over $350,000, developers had the opportunity to build their portfolios, expand their professional networks, and experience building on the Hedera network.

Winning projects included Nomid, a peer-to-peer payment solution that abstracts blockchain away from users while relying on Hedera for fast and secure transactions, Savera, a platform empowering underserved communities through savings, and Credore, which revolutionizes trade documentation with secure MLETR-compliant digital solutions. These were just a few of the many creative solutions built during the hackathon.

From tokenizing assets to integrating AI, projects demonstrated the value of distributed ledger technologies like Hedera to solve complex problems. Hedera Joins MiCA Crypto Alliance

In major ecosystem news, Hedera has joined forces with Ripple, Aptos, and DLT Science Foundation to establish the MiCA Crypto Alliance. This alliance will streamline compliance for Crypto-Asset Service Providers (CASPs) under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) regulation.

The MiCA Crypto Alliance aims to simplify regulatory processes by creating standardized formats for disclosures, white papers, and sustainability indicators, making it easier for CASPs to meet regulatory expectations. This collaborative effort will promote greater transparency and consistency within the industry, paving the way for a more secure crypto market.

Hedera’s expertise in sustainability will play a pivotal role in supporting the Alliance’s efforts to foster responsible innovation and regulatory adherence in blockchain.
